WHERE: Your Heart on Your Neck

Valentine’s Day is around the corner – this Sunday to be exact. I got into the spirit over the weekend by painting my nails apple red. This week I plan on incorporating a little “love” in everything I wear. Today I will be layering all my heart pendants. They are different lengths, metals, and the hearts range in size from tiny to obnoxious.

Sunday Sit Down: Unisex

One thing we really love about jewelry is the option to wear men’s pieces. Leather wrap bracelets, thick cuffs, and dog tags have come full circle with men’s trousers and button down shirts. The androgyny gives us ladies a little more to work with.

The Gravity bracelet by Barbara Campbell allows us to do so without even trying. This unisex bracelet is made from steel, suede, and sterling silver. For just $85 you can either stack them or wear just one.

Check out the same style in red. The strap is made from leather and retails for just $10 more than the suede pictured above. To add pop, mix and match color and material. And if you’re looking for a gift for that special someone this Valentine’s Day, the red Gravity bracelet is the perfect present!

WHY: You Stink!

What is fashion? I get asked that questions a lot. There is no one answer. Basically, these days, it’s what celebrities are photographed wearing. It is also whatever the popular and most well known designers say is fashionable. This post shows that even Oscar the Grouch can be fashionable.

Has Marc Jacobs ran out of ideas? Tired of the monogrammed, tough leather? Need something softer with a more “at home” feel? How about the leather trash bags!?

How about NO? A good old canvas would have went over well. But a trash bag! And for just under a whopping $2,000. We think this stinks.

If we catch stars sporting this bag – well it’s all down hill from here folks.

Something to make you smile – the good ol’ days.

WHO: Carolina is Oh So Fine

Fine jewelry doesn’t get much attention these days. Magazines focus most of their attention on getting the look for less and items at certain price points – Under $25, Fab Finds for Under $100.

A great fine jewelry designer is hard to come by. When spending up to $1,000 on a piece you want to be sure it’s special, one of a kind, and a piece that you can wear forever, through trend and fad.

Carolina, a fine jewelry line based out of New York, is a fantastic mix of raw and refined. Check out these fabulous silver bangles sparkled sporadically like a nights sky.

Unfortunately, Carolina does not have an e-shop. To purchase the gorgeous pieces please see the shops listed on the website.

HOW: Not So Much

Beyonce is a fashion icon. Beyonce is a musical genius. Beyonce (or whoever dressed her) made the wrong red carpet choice at the Grammys.

Picture 6

Where are her legs? What’s with the boob zipper? She has such a fabulous figure. Her mother, Tina Knowles dressed Destiny’s Child showcasing their strongest body part. Beyonce was always in minis; accentuating her strongest body part – her legs.

We pictured her in something more along these Balmain lines.

We do, however, love her gold earrings. These would have looked nice with the dress pictured above. Scroll below to get the look:

WHO: Dear Gary

Dear John

Dear John

Dear John opens in theaters this Friday and I will be sitting first row with a box of tissues; just as I did when The Notebook came out. There is something comforting about being able to cry uncontrollably in the dark amongst other women, and some men. From the looks of the trailer the plot seems identical to The Notebook. It’s a true Nicholas Sparks love story. Boy and girl fall in love, one has to leave the other for some reason or another, and they search the world and their hearts waiting for their love to return. We know how it ends and we love how it begins.

The trailer is moving and enticing and a lot has to do with the fantastic theme song. I’m a fan of Snow Patrol and have played Chocolate on repeat more than I’d like to admit – this collaboration with Martha Wainwright couldn’t be more fitting. The beautiful lyrics and the smooth harmony of her voice with lead singer, Gary Lightbody, will help the movie along if it’s dragging and/or predictable.

Click here to enjoy this great collaboration.

And if you still haven’t seen the trailer…

Sunday Sit Down: Diamond in the Rough

It’s not everyday you come across jewelry that possesses a consistent balance between modern and vintage elements. Jennifer Elizabeth has a great talent of combining the two, which really sets her collection apart from the masses. The intricate details, color, and originality drew me to this young, excelling designer. We are also drawn to the exclusivity of her collection – each piece is hand made and one of a kind.

I’m always on the look out for that perfect pair of earrings. One that makes a statement, won’t weigh me, or my outfit, down, and is versatile enough to wear on a daily basis. These gold earrings are subtle yet stunning and can be worn with a plain white t-shirt or a glittering gown.

Layering t-shirts, tank tops, and even scarves are on trend this season. I don’t like to spend a lot of time layering necklaces, chains, bangles, and bracelets. Why? Because I have to wake up an extra ten minutes early just to begin stacking! This necklace comes layered with bright beads in the form of wood, glass, and plastic.

It’s rumored that elephants are good luck – we could all use a little extra luck these days. Why not sport this fantastic beaded necklace? And for under $100 it’s a great piece to rock when you’re looking to add a little color and pop to a drab outfit.

Apple.com

Who hasn’t heard the big news? Steve Jobs announced yesterday that the iPad (teehee) is the next best thing. The best of both worlds. The universe of smartphone and laptop combined! However, if you have an iPhone and a MacBook what is the real reason you would need to purchase an iPad? Yes, it’s cool. But so is an iPhone. (I still love my Blackberry.)

Before becoming too enticed and excited about this new form of technology, I would have to interact with it. Jobs is the inventor of the century changing iPod. Maybe it was a one hit wonder?  I can’t imagine what the Apple team was discussing around the table when brainstorming names for this device.

Maybe – iTab

No judgement. The iPad (teehee, can’t help it) starts at $499 for 16GB and goes up to $699 for 64GB. Add $130 to each model for the 3G feature.

We are intrigued but not convinced.

And weighing in at just 1.5 pounds and half inch thick – we would rather carry around a silver metallic clutch fitting all our technological essentials.
