WHAT: Fur Here Or To Go

Marc Jacobs can do whatever he wants. Skirts for men. Underwear on the outside. Sue Christian Audigier for trade-dress and trademark infringement.

Jacobs continues to take fashion to a new level –this season – fur everywhere. Our animal instinct took over as we browsed through his latest collection. We developed a hunger for more exciting and innovative shows like his. The show began with a clean grey and neutral palette quickly merging into basic coats and structured bags covered in fur.

I’m not one for fur but (what used to be) fashion is art. It’s an artist’s expression, inspiration, and talent put on display for all, who appreciate and hate, to devour.

Marc Jacobs fall 2010 runway was just that. Art.

WHY: Sheer Genius

See through tops? Only worn as cover ups and lingerie. But designers like Luca Luca, Ralph Lauren, and Cynthia Rowley all touched “lightly” on the trend.

Bare It All

This look isn’t ideal for work or play. But you can still pull it off with these fun options below:
This top by Vince would look hot with a neon bra or camisole underneath.

If you’re going to go “all out,” why not cover up the spots that weren’t meant to be seen with a trendy oversized scarf or light vest.

Madewell Square Dottie Scarf

Madewell $60

Velvet Hillary Vest

Velvet $71

Some Satin

Some satin or embellishments drag attention away from the bare skin underneath the light, see through fabric. If you’re still looking to cover up a lace trim tank goes a long way.

Victorialand Fitted Full Lace Blouse

Victorialand $198

Delias $19.50

Whichever way you want to mix and match, it’s clear that sheer is in this fall. Check out more runway looks by Marc Jacobs and Max Azria.

WHO: Role Models; Augie Inspired

This weekend we were inspired by Augie’s cape to search for the most classic, outrageous capes of the Fall 2009 runways. You don’t see too many capes on trend this season but they were draped over the runway by designers like Marc Jacobs, Erin Fetherson, and Giorgio Armani.

Reminiscent of Quidditch and flying brooms, Giambattista Vallie used a floor length cape to induce a dramatic effect on the Fall 09 runway. The synchronized color and black, trimmed over-sized hood, amps up the typical short fall cape.

Known for monotonous color and classic lines, Giorgio Armani’s fall 2009 collection is borderline Asian goth. The large kimono sleeves, porcelain skin, and dark make up remain classic on the edge of sultry.

Marc Jacobs knows how to take a trend and convert it into something extreme. For instance, take bright colors and incorporate it into a cape. This blue cape trimmed in thick black lines is the perfect statement making piece. We’re loving the asymmetrical sleeves.

And our favorite of them all is this “Super Woman” cape by Antoni. The comic book scribble and matching handbag have us swooning.
