WHAT! $300 For Steve Madden

The brand is trendy and moderately cheap. They have been reported in conspiracies involving copyright and unoriginal ideas.

But…giving them the benefit of the doubt…their handbags aren’t bad.

Is it trendy or cool enough to throw down approximately $300?
These two remind us of Botkier:

HOW: A Friend; A Fold Over

We’ve received a few emails concerning great fold over bags. Where to find them? Which style is most popular? And where to find the cheapest and chicest?

A fold over is a friend to the over packer. Us ladies who stuff our bags to capacity could use  a restrictive style like this.

You can’t stuff to the brim! It must fold over to close and with it stuffed you’re walking around open bag…not a fan.

Some are expensive and are not news to the trend world. Like the Foley + Corinna for $444.

But $444 might not be in your budget. Still urning for a fold over?
Need Supply Co. has this amazing vegan friendly grey bag for just $68.

Who: The Magnes Sisters

Yes, we love fashion. But what we love about fashion more than anything else is it’s ability to give back. This month The Magnes Sisters are offering the pink Ballet as their signature Breast Cancer Awareness bag. Twenty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Young Survival Coalition. The bag retails at $224. I own the I Love in yam and the leather is durable and wears incredibly well.

How: Ladies Man

It was in middle school that I first begged for the ever popular basic black Kate Spade shoulder bag. When I got it, I wore it until the edges were frayed and everyone else “had to have it.”

Years later I find myself eyeing Jack Spade. What’s the appeal? The slanted straps. It makes it easier for the messenger bag to sit on the hip, across the back, or dangle from the shoulder. Who says that a woman can’t wear a mans bag?

For some other wearable men’s bags by Jack Spade…

There are also some fantastic men’s bags at Banana Republic. The leather is luxurious, the prices are doable, and they wear over time like a pair of Carhartt khakis…

Where: To The Side, Wangstyle

It’s messy and reminiscent of Rapunzel. Forget your bedtime stories, it’s time for knee high socks, men’s baggy track pants, makeshift skirts circa wrap waist 80’s, and varsity jackets. The side braid is something we’re not waiting for spring to rock.

Wang is not clueless but the knee high socks sure bring back memories of my dream closet. And this makeshift skirt is a clever rendition of what I used to do with my matching windbreaker outfit circa the late 1980’s. We do love the reference…

Who: Gwen Stefani

I decided to skip Macy’s and it’s a good thing I did. I ended up crossing paths with Gwen Stefani right outside Bloomingdales!

She looked fantastic! I popped inside Bloomingdales to take a look at her latest collection. The blue barcode print bag match her eye lids. Wonder if she did that on purpose…

When: An Engagement Party

This weekend I am off to Boston for a friends engagement party. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous and I’m struggling with what to wear. No more white and I am craving florals. Florals in the fall? Crazier things have happened.

See by Chloe Long Floral Dress

See By Chloe: $267.50

I spotted some great dresses by Charlotte Russe, Vera Wang, and Forever21. And with prices ranging from $26-$299 you will be sure to find something right for your budget.

Chances are I will be standing, mingling a majority of the party so I thought platforms would be the way to go.

I am loving the above from BCBG for just $109.95. The cork wedges from APC and Michael Kors are a great touch. And in terms of what I’m carrying…NOTHING! I like to have my hands free, to shake, drink, eat, and party. I’ve scouted some great messenger bags. Click here for some we’ve reported on before.
