Currently Craving (Earth Day Edition): Bionic Unicorn

Happy Earth Day! We hope you’re all wearing something green, riding bikes to work, and drinking from your Camelback thermos. More importantly, we know that you practice the aforementioned before today and continue to do so after Earth Day has come and gone.

In celebration of today we would like to introduce you to one of our favorite eco-friendly jewelry designers, Kristin Berwald. The designer created Bionic Unicorn with a “mission to be known as the ‘Willy Wonka’ of jewelry.” The steampunk and statement jewelry is colorful and intricate. Berwald uses vintage pieces in each of her designs which make each unique and eco-friendly.  When we flipped through her gallery we found ourselves entranced by each individual necklace. Here are some of our favorites -

Bionic Unicorn - $65

The silver necklace above has a great Alice in Wonderland theme with clock detail and colorful flowers. We also love the rhinestones inside and sprouting on top.

A butterfly dangling from your neck is a great way to welcome spring! This gear heavy, blue butterfly necklace is just what we need to jazz up our plain tank tops and solid t-shirts.

There are so many amazing necklaces to choose from. We’ve included a small collage of our favorites below. If you love Bionic Unicorn as much as we do, please shop through more styles at Etsy.

WHAT: Something New

I’ve spent a lot of time at Forever 21 and H&M lusting after the $5 accessories. I am lusting after the cheap price point; not the awe inspiring designs. There are times, like right now, when I would rather spend a lump sum on something special rather than buy 100 replicated items.

Laura Lombardi has inspired this post with her innovative, creative, and one of a kind jewelry. When I stumbled gratefully upon her Etsy shop, I immediately wanted to buy a piece, worried they would sell out!

One of my favorites is this gunmetal layered necklace. The hot pink howlite daggers put a masculine spin on pink. And at $58 you’re getting a piece that you can wear with anything. My apparel of choice would be a white or black v-neck tee.

The versatility and range of the collection had me swooning over a necklace that is the compete opposite of the one above. This bar chain brass necklace can be worn with a strapless dress or a spaghetti strap tank.

We’ve added some shirts and dresses below that would go great with the statement necklaces above.
