WHO: Role Models; Augie Inspired
This weekend we were inspired by Augie’s cape to search for the most classic, outrageous capes of the Fall 2009 runways. You don’t see too many capes on trend this season but they were draped over the runway by designers like Marc Jacobs, Erin Fetherson, and Giorgio Armani.

Inspired By Augie
Reminiscent of Quidditch and flying brooms, Giambattista Vallie used a floor length cape to induce a dramatic effect on the Fall 09 runway. The synchronized color and black, trimmed over-sized hood, amps up the typical short fall cape.

Known for monotonous color and classic lines, Giorgio Armani’s fall 2009 collection is borderline Asian goth. The large kimono sleeves, porcelain skin, and dark make up remain classic on the edge of sultry.

Marc Jacobs knows how to take a trend and convert it into something extreme. For instance, take bright colors and incorporate it into a cape. This blue cape trimmed in thick black lines is the perfect statement making piece. We’re loving the asymmetrical sleeves.

And our favorite of them all is this “Super Woman” cape by Antoni. The comic book scribble and matching handbag have us swooning.
