Fashion Flipping: Gwyneth Paltrow @ “Kate Who”

c/o JustJared

Gwyneth Paltrow is the master at finding the most indiscrete ways to dress casually while looking chic, trendy, and enviously stylish.  This outfit, which Gwyneth wore to “Kate Who?,” celebrity photographer, Mario Testino’s exhibition of supermodel Kate Moss,  is a brilliant combination of basic high wasted shorts with a soft and flexible white button shirt.  We admire the flowing, summer feel of the shirt and short ensemble. To add a little accent and pop, notice how she added a silver metallic clutch and rhinestone (or diamond) horn necklace to turn basic into beautiful.

This Maya Brenner horn necklace is handcrafted and encrusted with diamonds.

Looking for a clutch to match?  This “Hamptons Clutch” by Jack Rogers is accented with intricate stitching and perforated leather which gives the accessory a vintage feel.

HOW: Miley Cyrus’ New Look

We’ve seen this trend peeking out in Ke$ha’s headdresses and strange Native American styled references. But we refused to take it seriously.

In a more subtle statement of the same kind of look, Miley Cyrus adds a silver arrowhead and gorgeous turquoise pendant to her outfit while sporting new hair extensions.

CocoPerez reports the extra hair cost Cyrus a whopping $24,000. Let’s hope this isn’t part of the “Native American” trend.

WHO: The Face of The Faces – Nicolas Hayek

Often wearing approximately four watches per wrist, Nicolas Hayek, Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors of The Swatch Group LTD., died yesterday from heart failure while working at Swatch Group headquarters in Biel, Switzerland.

Hayek revolutionized the wristwatch with the ever-popular Swatch watch.  This watch not only required approximately half the parts needed to produce a traditional wristwatch, but it was extremely low priced for a watch of it’s time. The first Swatch came in at under $35 with only 51 parts required to tick.

With an education in math, physics, and chemistry, Hayek started his own consulting firm in the 1960’s. Ironically, twenty years later, Swiss banks called on Hayek to write a report on how to liquidate the watch making industry.  Instead, he merged two companies, which housed watch brands like Tissot, Longines, and Omega.

In 1983 Hayek introduced the Swatch watch, which became a popular collectors item worldwide. The appeal came from the plastic casing and straps that were available in an assortment of funky colors.

Hayek was a pioneer, an accessory lover, and an innovate thinker – he will be missed.

Adding merchandise to your virtual cart may encourage a shopping spree. Creating a fantasy wardrobe allows you to shop without spending.  If you have stashed cashed for a rainy day, visit your “loved ones” and treat yourself. Our top five “loved” tops for under $100 are…

VPL – Fractional Tank – $87.50

This white, sheer, cutout tank is secretly sexy and perfect for a hot summers day.

Cheap Monday – Cutout Sweatshirt – $45.50

HOW: A Fashionable Yogi

Almost every weekend we either drag ourselves or happily stroll, to Yoga To The People – depending on our mood.  The end result is always the same – content, a little more flexible, and carefree (until we get shoved into a hot and sweaty subway car…OMMMMMM.)

We find the more comfortable we are in our yoga attire the better the experience can be.  Check out some of our favorite yoga pieces.

We love the fitted, tattoo print Yellowman tank. It comes in both a gorgeous turquoise and magenta color. If you’re in the market for a bag that will hold all your Yoga gear, this Dakine Avoni Yoga bag is stylish and spacious in an all over tonal leopard print. And for these hot summer months we choose the shortest, lightest shorts. Nike makes a comfortable dri-FIT fabric designed to control your sweat and keep you dry. For other Yoga attire options please click through our boutique below. NAMASTE.

Currently Craving: Metallic Mini

Last night, in a gummy bear, candy corn craze, we watched one of our all time favorite movies – Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion.

We love how the best friends make their own clothes and aren’t afraid to admit how “cute” they are – even if some of their outfits aren’t so “cute.” However, we are slightly obsessed with their reunion ensemble and find ourselves craving a metallic mini for this weekend’s festivities. Looking back on fashion was always a little bit more fun than looking forward.

Check out some of the hottest metallic minis from our editor picks. Shop through our boutique below. Shimmer!
